It's not uncommon for a film to be based around some tragic event of the past. The likes of Titanic, The Impossible, and more have told stories based around natural or man-made disasters, but there is a line in the sand here.

In 2020, the world was brought to a complete stand-still as the COVID-19 pandemic changed life as we knew it across the globe. The virus sent entire populations into lockdown and killed millions of people, something that a handful of producers deemed a good base for a movie.

The problem is that releasing said movie about such a worldwide pandemic, particularly with it ultimately resulting in a devastating dystopian future, while still living with the pandemic itself, was about as ill-advised as you could get. The phrase too soon doesn't even come close to this.

Songbird, starring KJ Apa, Alexandria Daddario, Demi Moore, and Peter Stormare debuted in December 2020 to poor reviews. No one needed this film, no one wanted this film, and quite unsurprisingly, no one liked this film.
