10 Movies Where The Hero Originally Died At The End
3. John Connor - Terminator Salvation
Terminator Salvation is easily the most disappointing film in the series; it was finally going to show fans the future war that had been teased for twenty-five years, and Christian Bale was playing John Connor. It should have been awesome, and definitely not the boring mess featuring lifeless characters and about a million plot holes we got
When McG somehow convinced Bale to sign on the script had to be heavily rewritten, since Connor was originally supposed to make a cameo at the end. This led to Bale having a pointless subplot where he growls trailer lines at people, while Sam Worthington fought for screentime as the character who actually had stuff to do.
The other major change was the ending, where Connor was going to be killed during the final battle. To keep his death a secret the resistance would graft his skin onto Marcus, which would also explain how Connor got his famous scar. In a grim turn of events, Marcus would then turn evil and kill the rest of the resistance. Roll credits.
News of this planned ending leaked and fans revolted, leading to McG coming up with the heart transplant nonsense that now ends the movie.
