10 Movies With Ant-Sized Characters You Have To See

In The Phantom Planet, an astronaut named Chapman lands on an asteroid, but for some reason breathing their air causes him to shrink down to six inches tall. Sure, why not?

The asteroid is full of tiny humans, and he’s soon placed on trial for attacking one of them. Yes, they have trials here. This place is known as Rheton, and its people have discovered the technology to control gravity, which allows them to actually fly their planet through space. Now they’ve kidnapped Chapman in order to maintain their secret.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a 1960s sci-fi movie without a woman for Chapman to make out with, and so someone named Liara falls in love with him after he’s been there for roughly a day. Oh, and then a guy who loves Liara gets jealous and challenges Chapman to a battle to the death.

What’s weird about this one is that it doesn’t really end up mattering that the characters are tiny. It’s on an alien planet where literally everyone is small, so really everything just looks regular sized. What's the point, then? It’s a ridiculous movie, and they even shove a horrible looking monster suit in there for good measure. But while not great, The Phantom Planet is fun in a goofy way, and perfect for the Mystery Science Theater treatment.
