10 Movies You Won't Believe Turn 10 Years Old In 2016

6. Pan€™s Labyrinth

It€™s hard to wrap our heads around the fact that the iconic image above €“ from Guillermo del Toro€™s November 2006 release Pan€™s Labyrinth €“ will soon be a decade old. Some would argue that del Toro hasn€™t released a better film since. It€™s a bit of an unfair comparison, though, because Pan€™s Labyrinth is a film that really does have everything. It has stunning creatures like Doug Jones€™ Pale Man, beautiful fantasy sets, and a mystical tone that draws you in and demands your attention. Two things were needed to ensure that del Toro€™s luscious visions truly translated into a great film. The first is a compelling protagonist, with Ivana Baquero delivers with her mesmerising breakout turn as Ofelia. The second is compelling human drama, which del Toro weaves in via the historical backdrop of 1940s Falangist Spain. Pan€™s Labyrinth is one of those films, then, when reality, fantasy, believable characters and real emotion blend together for an instantly unforgettable end product. Despite ten years of filmmaking advancements, it€™d still be impossible to make Pan€™s Labyrinth any better.
