10 Non-Christmas Films You Can TOTALLY Get Away With Watching This Festive Season
3. Catch Me If You Can
Based on the incredible true story about the legendary conman Frank Abagnale Jr, this film is one of Leonardo DiCaprio's most underrated roles of all time.
Directed by Steven Spielberg and with the music accompaniment of John Williams, this 2002 biographical crime film follows the life of Frank Abagnale as he cons his way into being a lawyer, doctor and an airline pilot whilst forging countless cheques worth over $2.5 million all before turning 21 years old.
How to convince others: Throughout the film, Frank battles with the separation of his mother and father and, because of his criminal lifestyle finds it impossible to make any lasting connections with anybody. The closest person he has to talk to is detective Carl Hanratty who is tasked with tracking Frank down. Because of his loneliness, Frank calls Carl every Christmas just to hear a familiar voice on the other line and when Carl eventually catches Frank in Montrichard, France, it is coincidentally Christmas day. This film is a heartwarming reminder that no matter who we are, it's important to not be alone on Christmas.
