9. 30 Minutes Or Less
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn9DoxS_nck Ruben Fleischer's comedy about a pizza delivery boy who has a bomb strapped to his chest by two men who force him to carry out a robbery is without question one of the more ridiculous premises for a film in recent years. However, would you believe that it actually happened? In 2003, Brian Douglas Wells, a three-decade long employee of the Mama Mia Pizzeria in Erie, Pennsylvania, went to routinely deliver pizzas, and ended up with a bomb strapped to his chest. It does differ from the film in one key area - Wells was in on the scam, but thought the bomb was fake. Upon trying to back out once he was told it was real, he was given a shotgun by his accomplices and sent to the local bank with the threat that they would detonate the bomb if he didn't. After pleading his case at the bank, a bomb squad was called, but minutes later, the bomb detonated, presumably at the behest of the perpetrators, killing Wells. Much like the film, the motivation behind the theft was to pay an assassin to murder one of the perpetrator's fathers and gain an inheritance, though amusingly, it turned out in the end that this inheritance had largely been spent anyway.
