10 Performances That Could Save Upcoming Movies
4. Mark Hamill - Child's Play

As soon as it was confirmed Brad Dourif wouldn't reprise his role as Chucky, fans were prepared to metaphorically burn this movie at the stake. After all, how do you dump the one and only voice actor for a horror icon when he's still fully capable of doing it? Fans were outraged and even after the first look confirmed the talented Brian Tyree Henry and Aubrey Plaza would be in it, many still weren't convinced. But once Mark Hamill, the man who achieved legendary status through waving around a lightsaber and playing Batman's better half for many years signed on, the perception of the film became much more positive.
Over the years, Hamill has arguably become more well-versed in voice-work than live-action roles, so his vocal talent and range has become his greatest asset. Not only that, he knows how to play crazy and have no shame in really going for it in the recording studio. His manic energy fits perfectly with a character like Chucky. Besides, a slasher flick like Child's Play is only as good as its killer, and Hamill has proven himself more than capable to deliver.
People can expect the same kind of B-movie quality in Child's Play, but with such a talent behind the murderous doll, this reboot has the potential to give something different from the Dourif-era Chucky movies. If this movie becomes the successful relaunch of the series and allows for a killer doll cinematic universe, you'll likely have Luke Skywalker to thank for that.
