Erik Estrada grew up wanting to follow in the footsteps of his mother's boyfriend, a police officer. But when a girlfriend introduced him to a drama club, he turned his focus on acting.
From 1977 to 1983, Estrada played Frank "Ponch" Poncherello in the hit TV show CHiPs alongside Larry Wilcox. He later found success in Spanish-language telenovelas.
In 2008, Estrada proved it is never too late to accomplish your goals when he was sworn in as a reserve police officer in Muncie, Indiana. A year later, he became a full-time deputy sheriff in Bedford County, Virginia.
