10 Post-Credits Movie Scenes That Change Everything

7. Waiting In The Taxi - Airplane!

Ted Striker may have saved the day, but he failed at his day-job. The sting to what is still the most gag-heavy film ever reveals the passenger in his taxi is still waiting for the hero to come back, self-seriously musing "I€™'ll give him another twenty minutes, but that€™s it.€" Short, sweet and absolutely hilarious, it's well worth the wait through the credits.

But it's not what the scene actually entails that makes it so noteworthy, but what it signifies - it's the first proper post-credit scene. All other little teases take a cue from this minorly disgruntled passenger. Sure, there'd been cases of credits been used in a more creative manner before, with James Bond movies notably teasing the next entry with a little coda at the end, but none had ever actually snuck a proper scene in.

The closest we'd got previously was The Muppet Movie, which featured Animal telling the audience to go home, but, following an already unconventional credits, that was little more than a bit of fourth-wall breaking - it's Airplane! that snags the highly prestigious honour of being the game-changer.
