10 Potentially Awesome Movies Released in July 2015

7. Mr. Holmes

What's it about? Sir Ian McKellen might be getting on a bit these days, but he isn't quite old enough yet to portray a 93-year-old Sherlock Holmes without a little help from the make-up department. Director Bill Condon adds a new twist to the legendary character - in Mr. Holmes he returns to England after witnessing the devastating effects of nuclear war before facing his twilight years in a seaside farmhouse, where a young boy forces him to revisit the unsolved case which forced him into retirement. Why it could be awesome: Released in June in the UK, Mr. Holmes has received several reviews already and is certified "Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes, so if you believe what the critics say it's definitely one to watch. Bill Condon has a track record for making solid dramas and making the most of olden day settings, as his earlier collaboration with McKellen, the biopic about Frankenstein director James Whale Gods And Monsters, demonstrated. Perhaps not one for younger audiences of fans of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movies, though.

Andrew Dilks hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
