There are a catalogue of very basic continuity issues that would arise should the three universes merge. Some people have a problem with the fact that, for example, Iron Man didn't help Thor against Malekith, or the fact that Bruce Banner didn't help Iron Man against Aldrich Killian, or the fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't help the United States President when he was kidnapped in Iron Man 3 - so imagine what would happen if it turns out that all the characters from the three franchises existed in each other's worlds when all these things went down. For example, where were Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four when the battle of New York was going down? Where were S.H.I.E.L.D. when the Sentinels were turning on humans or when Magneto lifted the Golden Gate Bridge? And why haven't the likes of Spider-Man and Wolverine - both of whom have performed very public displays of heroism - been approached to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. or join the Avengers? So many questions would be asked and so many loose ends would need tidying up that it would simply be impossible to come up with a solution to them all. In that regard, it's probably best that this merger never, ever happens. So there you have it - ten ball-aches for Marvel, should they end up owning every character. Do you agree with these problems? Which other problems would arise from this scenario? Do you actually think it should still ultimately happen, regardless of these issues? Let us know in the comments box below!
