10 Questions You Should Be Asking About Upcoming Movies
4. What About The Winter Soldier? - Captain America 3
If you've been on Mars, in a cave, with your eyes shut and your fingers in your ears (or simply not been rabidly keeping up to date with spoiler-y movie news) then you've really missed something big. It turns out that Captain America 3 isn't just going to be another Steve Rogers movie. For lack of a better term (or fan-boy restraint), it's essentially going to be Captain America vs. Iron Man. D.C. can suck it. That's right, Marvel have managed to get Robert Downey Jr. to sign on for the third Cap film, which looks set to be a big screen version of the beloved Civil War, a massive comic arc that sees the pair on different sides of an argument over whether the Government should keep tabs on superheroes. Can it be 2016 now? Of course, all of this means that someone has been forced to take the short straw. The ending of Captain America 2 strongly suggested that Roger's ongoing story would be the hunt for childhood pal-cum-assassin Bucky Barnes, which will surely have to take a backseat now. The Winter Soldier, despite his narrative unimportance, was a real highlight of his namesake movie, giving us something the MCU often skimps on; a truly great villain. With Iron Man essentially the villain, is there going to be any room in Cap 3 for that plot thread.
