10 Reasons Why An Avengers Movie Crossover With X-Men And Spider-Man Won't Be Happening

6. The Studios Already Have Their Own Game Plans€

Like it or not, major movie studios use franchises as their bread and butter. Before the next sequel in a franchise is even released, studios are already planning two or three sequels ahead. Kevin Feige, who is President of Marvel Studios, recently said that Disney has tentative plans for their universe through 2028. While Fox isn€™t quite as forward-thinking, it has already scheduled X-Men: Apocalypse for 2016 and another Wolverine sequel for 2017 and still plans to move forward with X-Force and Deadpool spinoffs. Fox also has its Fantastic Four reboot coming out in 2015 and has already scheduled a sequel for 2017. On the Spider-Man front, Sony has four Spidey movies in development: The Amazing Spider-Man 3 (set for 2016), The Amazing Spider-Man 4 (set for 2018), and spinoff movies featuring the Sinister Six and Venom. None of those plans include a Marvel crossover movie. While plans can always change, the studios would have to disrupt a lot of long-term planning and investments on each of their behalves in order to get such a major project off the ground. This could mean putting on hold 2-3 other movies that could easily make the studio much more than a crossover movie would.
