10 Reasons An All-Female Ghostbusters Is A Terrible Idea
2. Paul Feig's Involvement
Paul Feig seems like a cool guy, and it's hard to hold much against the guy who not only created Freaks and Geeks, but has directed episodes for hit shows such as Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Mad Men, Weeds, Parks and Recreation, Nurse Jackie and The Office (U.S.). His cinematic work, however? Not so great. His first notable efforts, I Am David and Unaccompanied Minors, were both rinsed by critics, and though Bridesmaids went on to be a critical and commercial hit, was it really all that great? Amiable to a point for sure, it just doesn't really hold up on repeat viewings, and is far from the hilarity of the original Ghostbusters. As for Feig's follow-up The Heat, the less said about it the better... Though Feig is definitely a talented director when given the right material, he just doesn't seem like a good fit for Ghostbusters (radically different though it will likely be to the original). Filmmakers like Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who have experience relaunching a classic property (21 Jump Street) and somehow made The Lego Movie work, would be a great pick, and other solid choices are Evan Goldberg (This Is the End) and Adam McKay (Anchorman).
