10 Reasons Ghostbusters Isn't As Bad As You Think
3. It Isn't "Reverse Sexist"
There's been a lot of chatter in recent days about how the movie isn't merely a subversive gender-swap of the original but in fact a propaganda piece filled with what idiots call "reverse sexism", or as normal people call it, sexism, this time against men.
The film's detractors claim that Chris Hemsworth's character is, like all men in the film, an idiot, and more offensively a sex object above all else. Oh, and a certain character in the movie gets shot in his balls by all the main characters, so the movie hates men, right?
People need to get over themselves: this is a huge blockbuster movie that basically wants to appeal to as many people as possible: hating on men would be very foolish financially. There are stupid men and stupid women in this movie: hell, the Ghostbusters themselves are dumb goofballs for substantial portions of the movie, and much of the film's third act is about the team protecting Kevin because they like him so much.
Those with far too much time on their hands will no doubt end up dissecting the film's "gender politics" to death, but honestly, those people probably need a hobby.
