10 Reasons Star Wars: Rogue One Will Be 2016's Highest Grossing Movie
4. It Will Be A Unique Star Wars Experience
Rogue One will be treading new cinematic territory. For starters, it'll be the first of several Star Wars anthology films that take place outside of the main trilogys narrative, giving director Gareth Edwards a chance to explore unique avenues of the expanded Star Wars universe never before seen on film. One major complaint from The Force Awakens naysayers is that it was too much of a retread of Episodes IV-VI; Lucasfilm can sidestep this issue by offering jaded viewers a fresh perspective on the franchise. At last year's Star Wars Celebration, Edwards offered some insight into how he plans to set his film apart from previous entries in the series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Edwards said he intends to present a more morally complex vision than the black and white version of morality found in George Lucas original trilogy. The director explained his movie is about the fact that Gods not coming to save us, and were on our own. Hopefully, this darker, more adult spin on things will appeal to critics who believe Star Wars well of inspiration has thoroughly run dry while maintaining the aesthetic and feel that has helped the franchise stay so enduringly popular.
