10 Reasons The Marvel Cinematic Universe Is Doomed To Fail
4. The Avengers Problem
Without a doubt, one of the most jarring aspects regarding the shared nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is what we'll brand "The Avengers Problem." The problem, in its simplest terms, relates to the fact that, having established a fairly unstoppable team of heroes in The Avengers in order to save the planet, why have we since had three solo MCU movies where the team has failed to unite to do the same thing? The answer, of course, is that there isn't an answer; Marvel need to make solo movies, too, so ignoring the problem is there best bet. That's not to say Marvel are wrong for doing so: having to explain, over and over again, why Thor can't make it, or why Captain America is tied up, wouldn't be all that fun to watch... and yet, despite the fact that we all full well know why the Avengers are absent in solo installments, in the context of the MCU, it makes little sense. In a time of ultimate crisis, with the world about to end and millions of people on the verge of death, wouldn't Captain America go to see Tony Stark, or at least give him and call? Of course he would. And yet... everyone forgets.
