10 Recent Movie Characters Who Totally Deserved Better

No Time to Die may have been far from perfect, but it was certainly a fitting, affecting send-off for the Daniel Craig era of Bond, even if the show was arguably stolen by another character altogether.

When 007 heads to Cuba, he meets up with CIA agent Paloma (Ana de Armas), a seemingly wet-around-the-ears new operative who quickly proves herself to be an extremely smart, resourceful, and kick-ass ally to Bond.

De Armas' charming and hilarious performance, gleefully subverting more than a half-century of passive eye candy female roles in Bond films, delivered one of the most crowd-pleasing and potential-rich supporting characters of the Craig era - or any Bond era, really.

It's a shame, then, that she swiftly exits the film once she's assisted Bond, getting barely 10 minutes of screen time in a 163-minute film. It's all the more gutting as, with this being the end of the Craig era, it's highly possible the next film will press a hard reset on the whole cast.

Then again, it's not entirely out of the question that Paloma will effectively become the new Felix Leiter, perhaps even using the codename Felix as a tribute to her fallen ally, showing up periodically in the next few Bond films to help 007 out of a tricky scrape or two.

Given the hugely enthusiastic audience reaction to the character, it'd be a massive, massive shame if this was it for her.
