The first Bank of Dave - a comedy based on the real life efforts of Dave Fishwick (Rory Kinnear) to set up a communal bank for local British businesses - was released on Netflix in 2023 without much hype, though ultimately scored positive reviews and proved itself a strong ratings success.

Enough, then, that the streamer produced a sequel, Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger, which came out at the very start of this year.

However, Netflix barely promoted it, dropping a trailer just three weeks before it came out, and even the press seemingly weren't aware of its existence, given that it has just three reviews on Rotten Tomatoes - not even enough for a percentage figure.

And yet, Bank of Dave 2 was decently received by audiences regardless, because it's precisely the sort of inoffensive comfort food you'll watch on a lazy Sunday when it suddenly pops up on your Netflix page.

Considering it shot to the top of the streamer's charts on release week, that's evidently what many did, even if they probably had no idea it was a thing until a few seconds before clicking "play."
