10 Recent Movies That Wasted INSANE Casts

1. The Alto Knights

And finally, we have The Alto Knights, a staggeringly dull Goodfellas-lite crime drama which has the unique distinction of wasting its beloved lead actor not once but twice.

You see, Robert De Niro plays both of the movie's central mob boss characters, Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, and while one could argue that this was an attempt to show Genovese and Costello as two sides of the same coin, it ultimately feels more like a gimmick to try and enliven a film that simply isn't noteworthy otherwise.

Now, De Niro absolutely gave it his all here, but when he's working with such a warmed-over retread of classic gangster flicks, it's painfully clear he deserved better. And the same is true of the other notable cast members, namely Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, and a number of Sopranos alums such as Kathrine Narducci, Michael Rispoli, and Matt Servitto.

It's a testament to how egregiously The Alto Knights wastes everyone that, despite the Two De Niros marketing ploy, it was forgotten within days of hitting cinemas back in March.
