10 Recent Movies That Wasted INSANE Casts

3. G20

Casting Viola Davis as the supremely badass President of the United States who is forced to unleash her inner John McClane when terrorists attack the G20 conference seems like one of cinema's all-time great slam dunk concepts, and on paper it is, but what a whiff this was in the execution.

Davis commits fully to the part of POTUS Danielle Sutton, but nothing in this script requires too much of her from either a dramatic or physical standpoint, and so one has to ask, why even bother?

The rest of the cast is similarly served little. Anthony Starr is perfectly placed as the maniacal terrorist leader but running on fumes throughout, and among the wider cast the acclaimed likes of Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, Clark Gregg, and Anthony Anderson are pretty much just part of the furniture.

G20 could've been a pulpy, flavourful, even timely action flick that let its cast off the leash to have some fun, but instead it's a coma-inducingly trite, been-there-done-that actioner.
