4. London Fields

Don't be fooled by the appealing cast - including Billy Bob Thornton, Jason Isaacs, Amber Heard, Cara Delevingne, and Johnny Depp (in uncredited cameo form) - because London Fields is a spectacularly awful adaptation of Martin Amis' 1989 novel of the same name.

Though originally scheduled to premiere at TIFF 2015, the film was pulled after director Matthew Cullen sued producers for fraud, failure to pay him, and also re-cutting the film beyond comprehension.

Two additional lawsuits followed, with the producers suing Heard for $10 million for claims she altered the film's script and failed to complete voiceover work, while Heard counter-sued, claiming a nudity clause in her contract was violated.

This was all infinitely more interesting than the film itself, finally released in late 2018, which mutates Amis' novel into a virtually incomprehensible, impenetrable neo-noir running an assaultive 118 minutes in length.

Nobody is good here, very little makes sense, and it was career-damaging enough for several cast members - particularly a Razzie-nominated Heard - that it was probably better off not being released at all.
