10 Most Ridiculous Rom-Com Premises In Cinema History

5. The Switch €“ Jason Bateman Sneak-Impregnates Jennifer Aniston, Hilarity Ensues

Not anywhere near as heart-warming is the absurd premise for The Switch, in which Kassie (Jennifer Aniston) decides she wants to have a baby despite being single, using a sperm sample from dreamboat specimen Roland (Patrick Wilson). Kassie's friend Wally (Jason Bateman) is madly infatuated with her and doesn't like the idea, so gets wasted and spills Roland's semen sample (by "accident"), replacing it with his own. Kassie leaves New York, but 7 years later, she returns and reconnects with Wally, who bonds quickly with his biological son, Sebastian. There's a kicker though, that Kassie is dating Roland, who she presumes is the father of Sebastian. In the end, Wally confesses the truth, at which point Kassie is mad as hell (quite rightly). She backs down eventually, dumping Roland and getting with Wally, who proposes to her, and the three of them live happily ever after. It's a horrible film because it's so damn creepy, and not once did I actually want Wally to get with Kassie at the end. Roland seemed like a much better pick every step of the way. Misguided, ridiculous, and tonally jarring, The Switch sucks.
