The 1972 film, Private Parts, begins with Cheryl moving into her Aunt Martha's crummy lodge after she has a fight with her roommate. Martha comes across as a warm and kind proprietor at first but her eccentricities and obsession with death leaves Cheryl constantly on edge.

After speaking to the residents, which include a senile crone, an inflatable doll-obsessed peeping tom, and a priest, Cheryl suspects her aunt is hiding a deep, dark secret.

Because Private Parts doesn't contain a lot of blood, it's not a full-blown horror. However, the eclectic characters and the looming mystery is sure to keep the viewer intrigued and unnerved throughout. Lucille Benson does a phenomenal job at making Martha come across as creepy and eerie despite her calm and reassuring manner.

Even though voyeurism, fetishism, and transgender identities were taboo subjects to explore in the 1970s and not everything has aged well, Private Parts deals with such topics with a lot more maturity than one would expect.

The double-twist ending mightn't be for everyone but the mystery behind Martha's home is so well-paced, Private Parts will keep you entertained until the very end.
