10 Scariest Movie Moments Of 2018
5. Spider-Man's "Death" - Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War may have been the furthest thing from a traditional horror movie, but there's absolutely no denying the fact that Thanos' (Josh Brolin) climactic act of turning half the universe to dust was one of pure cosmic, big-budget terror.
While most of the subsequent "death" scenes are fleeting and lightly affecting at best - especially with our knowledge that most of them will be returning - there's one that's so sublimely acted and directed it becomes something else entirely.
As Peter Parker (Tom Holland) senses that he's about to turn to dust, he tearfully apologies to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and pleads that he doesn't want to go. It's a perfect reminder that Peter is a kid, after all, and Holland totally knocks it out of the park.
The existential horror of evaporating into nothingness was palpably felt in this moment, and without it Thanos' successful crusade wouldn't be quite as dramatically potent. Bravo.
