10 Scariest Short Horror Films You've Probably Never Seen

8. Still Life (2005)

Anyone who’s played Condemned: Criminal Origins will already know how downright unnerving mannequins can be in a horror environment, and filmmaker Jon Knautz was also acutely aware of this when he made Still Life.

This 2005 short centres around a pill-popping man (Trevor Matthews) as he struggles to stay awake while driving through the middle of nowhere. After running over what turns out to be a mannequin, the driver finds himself in the middle of a small town that's populated solely by mannequins. As if this concept wasn’t creepy enough, these inanimate inhabitants only move whenever the man isn’t looking at them.

Panic seeps in as the situation gets weirder, and the man runs into a house where a mannequin attempts to attack him with a baseball bat. Grabbing the bat out of frustration, the fella then viciously attacks the mannequin and its mannequin family. However, when the very real police arrive moments later, the man realises that both the bat and his face are covered in blood.

Although this final reveal could be seen coming from a mile away, it's the bleak implications of the man's actions which close this film on a haunting note.
