10 Scrapped Horror Movie Scenes Better Than What We Got

4. A Properly Violent Death - Cocaine Bear

Cocaine Bear definitely had its fair share of bloody and ferocious moments. It'd be strange if a film about a drugged-up bear didn't, right?

But it still didn't feel like a film that properly went as far as it could with such a barmy concept, with many feeling it wasted a lot of its potential.

Take the death of Olaf (Kristofer Hivju), for example.

There was actually a point there when director Elizabeth Banks fully planned on having audiences see him being horrifically killed by the black bear (via Insider). But rather than use the no doubt marvellously grim footage they shot of Hivju's character being mauled by the animal, the director felt just seeing Olaf's torn-up corpse was enough to get the point across.

On the one hand, with Banks wanting the audience to leave her film feeling happy rather than a little queasy after witnessing such a violent end, you can understand the call to scrap the death scene. But on the other, who wasn't heading into an R-rated movie called Cocaine Bear to watch said uncontrollable animal tear its way through humans?

It also would have been cool to see a closer look at the awesome prosthetics used to create Olaf's faceless corpse. Banks did note that viewers may get to see some of the cut gore in a director's cut (via EW), but for now Olaf's death remains an off-screen one.
