10 Scrapped Horror Movie Scenes Better Than What We Got
5. A Homeless Massacre - An American Werewolf In London
Now here's a scene that was actually initially part of a horror classic, only to get scrapped due to the reaction of some rather startled folks in a test screening audience.
John Landis' classic horror comedy, An American Werewolf in London, originally featured a scene that fully showed a group of homeless people being viciously attacked by the titular beast. However, that sequence involving the old men being ripped up in a rather gory way was discarded after test audiences felt it was too much.
In the end, even the director himself admitted that he regretted dropping this gruesome collection of deaths from his film, with Landis also regretting changing other scenes in the picture to get an R-rating for it.
At the time of writing, fans of the 1981 picture are still yet to see the version of this scene that doesn't cut away right as the werewolf launches itself at the men. But fingers crossed the more brutal killing spree that Landis originally wanted people to see makes its way out into the world one day.
