Starring the criminally underused Ethan Hawke as a crime-writer who discovers a series of snuff movies directed by an actual demon, Sinister was one of the better slasher/horror films to emerge in recent years. A sequel was, predictably, commissioned almost straight-away and Citadel's Ciaran Foy was hurridly brought in to direct with Scott Derrickson, who was behind the camera last time out, returning in a writing capacity. There's no Ethan Hawke this time though, with the story focusing instead on a new family moving into the house. The Rules Of Attraction's Shannyn Sossamon is lined up in the lead role as a mother of two twin boys, and James Ransone will reprise his role as the creepy and mysterious police deputy. Heralded for how unsettling and cerebral its quieter moments were, as well as how loud the shocks made audiences scream, Sinister is a horror franchise with massive potential and it'll be fascinating to see what dark corridors it's taken down on August 21st.
