10 Signs You’re A Movie Superhero

4. Your Parents Are Dead

Not all superheroes have it easy, and unfortunately, if you want to be a movie superhero... particularly if you want to be one of the three most successful and famous movie superheroes (Batman, Superman and Spider-Man) then this pretty much means your parents and sometimes uncles have to die in pretty horrific ways in your youth. Basically, in order to be a Superhero you have to be at least be a little bit emotionally disturbed. Most sane men remember wouldn't start jumping around large cities in Halloween costumes fighting crime. It also doesn't hurt that your parents were able to leave you lots and lots of money in order for you to indulge in your strange, infantile, fantasy land illusions. It is probably a benefit that you didn't have parents around when you were younger so they wouldn't discourage you from reaching ridiculous dreams. Most people have the luxury of telling their parents "Parents, I want to be an A-List Hollywood Actor" and their parents "lovingly" shoving them down and saying "Child, you're working on the checkout and you will bloody well shut up". Superheroes are obviously allowed to fantasize for much longer resulting in creepy childlike fantasies becoming realities in their future.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
