Poor Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen did nothing to deserve being reduced to ash, save for being associated with a pair of droids for five minutes. After the pair of moisture farmers purchase C-3P0 and R2-D2 from a horde of Jawas, they could've never known the robots harboured secret files to destroy The Empire's most destructive weapon, the Death Star.

When their nephew, Luke Skywalker, realised Imperial troopers were pursuing the droids, he rushed home to warn his family.

But it was all for nought. After Luke returned, he saw the Stormtroopers had already reduced his home to a smouldering pile of rubble. Just by looking at these charred remains, viewers knew Owen and Beru didn't make it.

But just to make sure the audience got the message, we bear witness to the blackened skeletons of Luke's uncle and aunt, sprawled beside where their home once lay. As Luke gawks at the bodies in horror, you can see wisps of fresh smoke still billowing from their roasted corpses. This moment was so unnecessarily brutal, you wonder what strings George Lucas pulled to secure the film's G rating.
