Last Film Entry: Evil Dead Rise (2023)

What's Going On? ! It may have taken ten years for a new Evil Dead movie to arrive, but man, was it worth the wait! Not just did Evil Dead Rise prove a major hit with horror hounds, it also appears to have whet the appetite of Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and others for a renewed focus on Deadites.

As he told Empire, Raimi's experience on the Lee Cronin-helmed Evil Dead Rise has piqued his interest in bringing back Campbell's Ashley J. Williams and potentially pairing him with the Evil Dead reboot's Mia Allen (Jane Levy).

Of course, Campbell previously stated how he'd retired from the Ash role following the end of the Ash vs. Evil Dead TV series. Following Raimi's comments, Bruce not only noted he'd now be open to returning as Ash, but he told The A.V. Club how Sam and Ivan Raimi have mapped out a "bible" that outlines plans for new Evil Dead films every couple of years. And with Ash vs. Evil Dead have wrapped up after three seasons, there are also tentative plans to continue that show in animated form as and when Sam Raimi's schedule frees up.

Where Evil Dead Rise is concerned, writer/director Lee Cronin has expressed his desire to return for a sequel to what proved to be one of the very best horror pictures of 2023.
