10 Terrible Films By Game Of Thrones Directors

1. Terminator Genisys (2015)

Director: Alan Taylor

The most recent and the most disappointing film on this list given the significance of the franchise in pop culture, Alan Taylor's Terminator Genisys was frustrating from the word go. Unnecessary and misguided, the spoilerific advertising in particular left a sour taste in the mouth before anyone had even sat down to watch it.

Taylor's Thor: The Dark World made just shy of $650 million at the box office in 2013 and was given a just-about-respectable approval rating of 66% on Rotten Tomatoes, though by Marvel standards it was an average effort. Genisys was next, and while MCU fans gave him a relatively easy ride, Terminator fans were not so forgiving.

This is the fifth film in a much-loved and once-revered franchise, and by now even the staunchest of Terminator fans are starting to doubt the muddled mythology, with Taylor's instalment only serving to muddy the waters with more questionable logic. In fact, a good chunk of dialogue is taken up by the cast reiterating exactly what is going on for the benefit of the audience (and most likely themselves).

While it obviously boasts a better quality of CGI than the early entries in the series, Genisys amounts to nothing more than a substandard rehash of those beloved movies, lacking the thematic depth and intelligence that made Terminator such a phenomenon at the time.
