10 Terrible Films From 2020 (That You Should Still Watch)

9. Artemis Fowl

Fantasy Island
Disney

For every wondrous high point Disney have achieved, there’s an equally abysmal bomb to balance out the universe. While the likes of Frozen 2 and Avengers: Endgame have taken the world by storm, other relatively recent releases A Wrinkle In Time and The Nutcracker And The Four Realms are already all but forgotten.

The latest misstep from the House of Mouse came in June when Artemis Fowl was released on Disney+ after it’s cinema release was cancelled.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Eoin Colfer, this fantasy flick follows titular youngster and criminal prodigy (Ferdia Shaw in his film debut) as he delves into a hidden magical world to save his father (Colin Farrell) by recovering a magical artefact his father has stolen.

With multi-Oscar nominated director Kenneth Branagh taking the reigns and a supporting cast featuring Josh Gad and Judi Dench, this fantastical adventure had all the pieces it needed to be – well – fantastical. But, thanks to flat characters and messy direction, the film was far too bland to be of much interest.

However, despite everything this film gets wrong, there’s still an imaginative adventure to be had here. And who wouldn't enjoy that?
