10 Terrifying TV Shows You Didn’t Know Existed

8. Crazyhead (2016)

First airing on UK TV in 2016 before later arriving on Netflix, Crazyhead is an outlandish horror-comedy that's often described as Buffy The Vampire Slayer meets Misfits, and it's exactly as entertaining as that sounds.

After meeting self-described "Hell bitch" Raquel (comedian Susan Wokoma), Amy (Downton Abbey's Cara Theobold) discovers that the frightening hallucinations she's been seeing aren't the side effects of coming off her medication but are demons who have possessed people. Not long after cementing their newfound partnership as demon hunters, the pair start to suspect that their psychiatrist (Tony Curran) may be the demonic mastermind behind everything.

Wokoma and Theobold are phenomenal together as they deliver quippy one-liners with precision timing. Alongside the nonstop gags, a generous helping of punchy violence and some effective scares ensure there's also plenty of horror for viewers to sink their teeth into.

Underneath the bonkers demon-slaying action and crude British humour, there's likewise a strong story about female friendship that will have audiences rooting for the leads to succeed from the madcap opening.

Despite being cancelled after one season, horror fans are bound to have a ton of fun with this underappreciated televisual gem.
