10 Things That Almost Completely Changed Spider-Man: Far From Home
6. Captain Britain
One area where Far From Home could perhaps have delivered more from its European vacation would have been in bringing more Marvel Euro-content to the fold. I mean, they say that they learn about Thor in science class and yet their science trip can't pop over to Norway for a visit to New Asgard?
There were, however, plans during the scripting stage to use the London-set finale to introduce some of Britain's finest Marvel stars.
In particular, Watts has discussed considering having help arrive in the form of Captain Britain, the superhero otherwise known as Brian Braddock, who was gifted magical abilities by the wizard Merlyn. (In the 1970s scene in Endgame, Peggy Carter references a character named Braddock in an Easter Egg that may well have been designed as a tease for a future Captain Britain appearance).
Native Londoner Jessica Drew (AKA Spider-Woman) was also under consideration for the movie's British scenes, with Marvel rumoured to be in preliminary talks with British star Olivia Cooke and erstwhile Mary Jane Watson, Shailene Woodley (whose part was cut from Amazing Spider-Man 2) for the role, which is still a possibility for Spidey 3.
As with Captain America, a Spider-Man movie with Captain Britain would have felt quite different, helping to expand the Marvel world and Spidey's place in it, but perhaps at the expense of giving Peter the full focus of the story.
