10 Things The MCU Should Steal From X-Men: The Animated Series
1. Create A Product For Fans Of Every Medium
Nearly 30 years later, many still look back fondly on X-Men: The Animated Series. Ultimately, the reason X-Men: TAS was so successful and has retained its fanbase is because it catered to a wide range of fans.
It was a kid’s cartoon with many adult themes. It was comic accurate in many ways but just unique enough to stand on its own. It was made for fans young and old yet never pandered to a group in ways that diluted the spirit of the product.
In some ways, the MCU had nothing to lose with many of their films. Few were going to riot if the screenwriters didn't do Ant-Man justice.
The X-Men are a much different story.
While the MCU should definitely integrate the X-Men into their generally family-friendly world, they mustn't forget about their other audiences. There's a reason why Logan and Deadpool were so successful, and it's largely down to the freedom afforded to both films by an R-rating.
That doesn't mean the MCU needs to drop hard-R films into the mix, but they must stay true to the spirit of the X-Men in the comics and aim to deliver a product that caters to as many X-Men fans as possible.
