10 Things You Didn't Know About The Mad Max Trilogy
9. Max's Dog Was Saved From Being Put To Sleep To Appear In The Film
Max Rockatansky is perhaps one of the most muted action heroes of all time, up there with Clint Eastwood's The Man With No Name when it comes to heroes who believe actions speak louder than words. In Mad Max 2, Mel Gibson only utters sixteen lines of dialogue throughout the entire film, which is great work if you can get it. While Max might not be much of a fan of other people (having your wife and child killed by a vicious gang is likely to have that effect) he's not averse to a little canine companion, and in Mad Max 2 he's accompanied by a dog imaginatively called "Dog". Were it not for the production of Mad Max 2 "Dog" would have met an untimely end at the local dog pound - fortunately he was scooped up for the film, equipped with special earplugs so the noisy car engines didn't distress him too much and finally, after filming was wrapped, adopted by one of the camera operators.
