10 Things You Learn Watching Halloween (2018)
1. In Summary
Halloween 2018 is genuinely great. It's easily one of the best films in the franchise, sporting an incredibly strong script, an insanely good score, stellar direction, and an incredible group of lead performances. While it certainly isn't a perfect film, it's hard to imagine a better eleventh film in a franchise than this. In many ways, it does succeed in taking the franchise back to the roots of the original film. As a result, it is able to capitalize on so much of what continues to make Carpenter's original film such an enduring classic.
Haddonfield High Superlatives:
Best Kill: Michael stomping and causing his doctor's head to literally explode.
Funniest Scene: The Julian scene.
Biggest Dick of a Character: Cameron, for what he did to Allyson at the dance and the fact that he never got murdered for it.
How Awful of a Town is Haddonfield?: 2 out of 10 (pretty normal, it even has a fully responsive and capable police force now, but does attract douchey podcasters)
Scream Queen Award: Jamie Lee Curtis. Forever and always.
Bonus Scream Queen Award: Every single one of you crazy motherf*ckers who's read even a single entry on one of these retrospective pieces. Whether you're a reader, an editor, or a one-time accidental visitor, thank you so much. I've had a blast rewatching all of these and I could not have ever gotten all the way through the franchise without you.
