In late 2013, Netflix signed a landmark deal with Marvel Television to produce 4 live-action TV programs based on renowned Marvel superheroes. The 4 individual characters will get their own shows, before coming together in a mini-series, which will see them teaming up as The Defenders. Daredevil is due for release in 2015 and will be followed by Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Alan Fine, President of Marvel Entertainment said: "This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel's brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvels specialty." $200 million has been set aside for the project, which will yield 60 one-hour long episodes and makes it Marvels most ambitious live-action television project to date. Currently filming in New York, it is also the biggest TV or film production commitment in the history of New York State.
