Even though Ti West has been part of the movie industry since the early millennium, he's only been accepted into the big leagues in the last few years, thanks to his recent work on X, Pearl, and MaXXXine. Because he wasn't well-known when 2011's You're Next was released, however, it's easy to miss his cameo. 

The underrated whodunnit revolves around a family reunion that turns into a bloody nightmare when masked assailants invade their mansion.

West plays Tariq, the boyfriend of one of the family members, Aimee. Although he's not a central figure, he indirectly sets up the film's tone. He's an outsider, so he's oblivious to the tension his partner has with her siblings and parents. His attempts at conversation exacerbate the family's dysfunctional behaviour, causing their resentment towards one another to spill out. The bickering becomes volatile, so it's more shocking when Tariq is abruptly shot dead by a masked killer outside. 

Little is revealed about West's character, but his death stands out since it comes out of nowhere and marks the sudden transition from family drama to full-blown home invasion horror.
