10 Times Marvel Movies Negatively Influenced The Comics

1. Downplaying The Fantastic Four's Presence

Mr. Fantastic vs Dr. Doom Secret Wars #9
Marvel Comics

Ever since Marvel sold the Fantastic Four to Fox ,and Roger Corman's subsequent failed adaptation, the heroic quartet's cinematic journey has been plagued by poorly thought-out films and its comics side received the short end of the stick leading up to the release of the 2015 movie.

Due to rights issues, the super team could not feature in the MCU. This did not sit well with Marvel head honchos, specifically Ike Perlmutter. The reclusive and sleazy executive demanded that the team be written out of the comics so to avoid any promotion going towards Josh Trank's superpowered flop.

As a result, after the events of the second Secret Wars crossover, the team was flung out of the mainstream continuity, and this led everyone to believe that they were dead.

Marvel's s First Family was an unfortunate and unnecessary casualty in the Disney/Fox dispute. Hopefully, their long-awaited MCU debut will not only be a compelling tale, but also make up for their treatment over the years.
