10 Times Marvel Movies Negatively Influenced The Comics

2. The Inhumans' Cancellation

Marvel's Inhumans
ABC/Marvel

This is the only entry whose fallout was mostly seen on the small screen, but this change in platform does not change the fact that Marvel mishandled the Inhumans on the page and screen.

In the lead-up to the superpowered race's live-action debut in 2017, Marvel began to platform the Inhumans in a lot more stories, giving them more narrative weight than before. This made sense as far as promoting your new show is concerned, but the consequences were not justified at all.

The Inhumans' new notoriety came at the expense of the X-Men, who became increasingly relegated to the sidelines. Things got so bad that Chris Claremont stated that Marvel writers were not allowed to create new X-Men characters during that era.

Despite all this sabotage, the X-Men somewhat prevailed in the public consciousness and the Inhumans series was a critical and ratings flop. After Disney bought Fox in 2019, these super beings were unceremoniously pushed to the side, proving that Marvel was less interested in giving them their time to shine and more so keen on finding a placeholder team till the X-Men came home.
