10 Times Movie Sequels Screwed Over Strong Female Characters

The way Black Widow's death went down was the biggest "screw you" to a key character in the Marvel Cinema Universe.

Black Widow, aka Agent Romanoff (played by Scarlett Johansson), was first introduced in Iron Man 2 and played a key role in six other films in the MCU.

Despite not having any superpowers or super suit, Romanoff's impressive hand to hand combat skills and leadership qualities make her an irreplaceable member in the Avengers team.

Leading up to Endgame, Romanoff was a constant source of strength for the other Avengers. She was the only one who could calm down The Hulk, was the voice of reason between Stark And Captain America during Civil War and was key in taking down Hydra in Captain America: Winter Soldier

In Endgame, she and Hawkeye travel to find the soul stone which is guarded by The Red Skull. The pair quickly discover the only way to get it is by a single sacrifice. What follows is one of the most underrated scenes in this epic film as the two battle out who gets to be the lucky sacrifice.

After Black Widow falls to her death, her demise is spoken of once and the film quickly moves on.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
