10 Under-Appreciated Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics
6. It Comes At Night
If you’re one of those who likes films to have a nice and compact whole story; I’d never give this one a try. It Comes at Night, of the ten films listed, has the largest gap between critic and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes (differential of 43%). Critics (87%) ate it up while audiences (44%) spat it out. Joel Edgerton and Christopher Abbott may have brought the crowds and gotten on base, but director Trey Edward Shultz was the one who hit it out of the park.
The film marketed itself as a horror though had little scares and served up a story that was much more about survival and what one would do to save their family. Though it failed to fright, what was presented was far superior than most horror flicks to hit theatres.
The film created a supernatural entity to serve merely as a backdrop for the true villains; humanity. The movie’s not a simple watch, but those who put in the work will surely be rewarded.
