8. Hellraiser: Judgment
On the surface there’s little to be jazzed about with this one, which is the tenth instalment of the Hellraiser franchise. Series creator Clive Barker has long since abandoned it and even former Pinhead star Doug Bradley left around part eight; and since the ninth movie – Revelations – was easily the worst movie in the series to date, the outlook is grim.
So it has all that stacked against it, but this one looks like they’ve actually put effort into it. The story has a detective following a string of bizarre murders and finding the killer may not strictly be human, and it may be coming for him next to judge him on his sins.
The photos and concept art released for Judgment make it clear it isn’t going to be a lazy rehash like the last few sequels, and that it will be adding some fresh ideas to a series in desperate need of them; and the next Pinhead looks super cool.
