British filmmakers really know how to make post-apocalyptic horror (28 Days Later, Doomsday) and She Who Brings Gifts looks set to be another solid entry in that most unique of subgenres.
Based on the acclaimed book the story is set in a future where most of mankind has been wiped out by a deadly fungal infection that turns victims into flesh-eating monsters (shades of The Last Of Us here) and a teacher must try to save a young girl from a ruthless scientist who wants to cut her open to find a cure.
The cast for the movie includes Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close and Paddy Considine, and director Colm McCarthy has helmed episodes of Peaky Blinders and Sherlock. The early photos convey a strong horror vibe, the cast is solid and the book has been acclaimed for its fresh approach to the overmilked zombie genre.
