5. The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (2005)
I've actually already taken the opportunity to discuss
5 Reasons The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy Needs A Sequel, but allow me to summarize and add a few more points. The Hitchhiker's Guide (or H2G2 for short) tells the story of an Englishman named Arthur Dent who is rescued from the destruction of Earth at the last second by a friend of his who is actually an alien who's writing for an intergalactic travel guide (the titular Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). They hitch a ride on the Heart of Gold, an experimental spacecraft that was stolen by Zaphod Beeblebrox, and they set out on bizarre adventures, including finding a "Point-Of-View" gun, finding the answer to life (but not the question), and Zaphod losing one of his two heads. The film is based off the hugely successful series of five books by Douglas Adams, which could serve as the basis for future sequels, or inspiration for all new stories. Because really, the whole point of the story is a couple of hitchhikers having surreal adventures throughout the galaxy. I could watch that forever and never lose interest.
