10 Underrated Rom-Coms You Have To See

6. This Means War

Celeste And Jesse Forever
20th Century Fox

This Means War is a brilliant blend of genres with a funny and simple rom-com at its centre. Starring Tom Hardy, Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon, This Means War is at once an action comedy, a rom-com and gun-crazy thriller. Sure, it's silly, unrealistic and odd, but it's just strange and humorous enough to be charming and completely irresistible if you're after a fun late night adventure.

After CIA Agent Tuck (Hardy) decides to go looking for love, his partner, FDR (Pine), a loud-and-proud womaniser, finds himself drawn to the same woman Tuck has just started dating. Unable to let her go - and with Lauren (Witherspoon) unsure which of them to date - the friends decide to go against each other and win her over in their own hilarious and increasingly crazy ways.

What follows is a film full of unlikely scenarios, hysterical character interactions and some unfortunately timed bad guys. Under the guns, explosions and car chases, This Means War is also a heartfelt look at a rocky friendship and an unpredictable double love story. If you do decide to check it out, make sure you grab the DVD, so you can enjoy three possible alternate endings, each as hysterical and acceptable as the last.
