10 Unlucky Movie Characters Who Didn't Deserve To Die

5. Kick-Ass - Kick-Ass Impersonator

Behind the violence dished out by Hit-Girl and Big Daddy to swarms of criminals, the underlying message behind Kick-Ass is that donning a costume and pretending to be a vigilante is a dumb idea.

Not because you look ridiculous in a blue and yellow body condom, but because playing the persona of a crimefighter invites retaliation from less than savoury folk.

This notion is heavily theorised throughout the Batman saga, and highlighted more at the beginning of Kick-Ass.

It’s demonstrated to us much more plainly when halfway through the film, a guy wearing a generic Kick-Ass costume is viciously beaten and then killed by Mark Strong’s Frank D’Amico. The incident is initially played to look like the actual hero takes a beating, but when it’s revealed the sorry victim is just Joe Public going for a stroll in a Kick-Ass costume, we’re presented with the real dangers that come with impersonating a costumed hero in this universe.

Thoughts have to be spared for the poor guy who gets roundhouse kicked to the ground and then shot dead, he just thought it would be funny to wear a Kick-Ass costume.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
